Three generation of Baier’s live on this farm. It won’t be long and the wheat will be cut and taken to the mill to be milled into flour for the family and sold to the surrounding area.
Oma is watching the baby while she shells the peas for dinner under the big tree. Mrs Baier is the “wise woman” of the county. She grows many medicinal herbs in her garden that she shares with her neighbors when they need help. A neighbor has come by to pick up a homemade tincture for an ailment. Her two little girls have come along and are waving to the Baier girl who was helping her older sister pick raspeberries for a pie. Their brother is fishing in the millpond. The house and barn were inspired by the buildings at the Peter Wentz Farmstead in Montgomery County, PA.
